Housing construction with 6 blocks and Direct Mechanical Ground
The housing of the PMA-1600NE is divided into six independent blocks. They include the phono input circuit and phono equalizer, the volume control circuitry, the USB D / A converter circuitry, the amplifier circuitry, the power supply unit and the control unit.
The housing made of 1.0 mm thick steel plates protects the signal circuits from external vibrations and prevents unwanted parasitic effects by mutual influence of the circuits. The power supply unit is located at the center of gravity of the unit with the PMA-1600NE. This makes the device ideally positioned to prevent unwanted vibrations from affecting sound quality. There are heat sinks on both sides. As a result, a uniform mass distribution is achieved. The feet have to carry the heavy weight of the transformer, heat sink and housing. They are made of ABS resin and have a stiff rib construction.
Advanced AL32 Processing Plus with support for PCM input 384 kHz / 32 bit
To replicate the analog waveform, the PMA-1600NE on the digital input uses Advanced AL32 Processing Plus, the latest version of Denon's technology, which uses specialized data interpolation algorithms to support high-resolution PCM input signals up to 384 kHz / 32-bit. The algorithms interpolate missing points in large data sets to produce smooth waveforms as close as possible to the natural signal. Information lost during digital recording is carefully restored. In this way, a highly detailed, trouble-free, precisely localized, in the low frequency ranges overwhelmingly expressive and overall amazingly true-to-original sound reproduction results.
Digital isolation circuit and analog mode
The PMA-1600NE features sophisticated isolation circuitry to prevent the negative effects of high-frequency noise from a USB-connected computer and the PMA-1600NE's digital inputs. Since the data is transmitted magnetically through coil turns in an integrated circuit, the input and output sides are electrically isolated. Separating the signal line between the digital audio circuit and the D / A converter eliminates the adverse effects of high frequency noise on the analog audio circuitry behind the D / A converter. The PMA-1600NE also has a special secondary turn power transformer for the digital circuit to eliminate noise from the power supply. When playing analog audio signals, the analogue mode can be activated. In this mode, the digital power supply and the digital circuit are completely turned off to prevent high-frequency effects on the analog section. In analogue mode, the display, USB B input, coaxial digital input and optical digital input are switched off. The PMA-1600NE then works as a pure analog amplifier.
USB D / A converter for DSD 11.2 MHz and PCM 384 kHz / 32 bit
The PMA-1600NE has a USB D / A converter, the high-definition input signals in the formats DSD 11.2 MHz and PCM 384 kHz / 32 bit supported. The DSD transmission methods support native ASIO playback and DSD audio over PCM frames (DoP). Because the asynchronous transfer is controlled by the master clock of the PMA-1600NE and not by the clock of the computer, the transfer is jitter free. Like the DCD-1600NE, the PMA-1600NE uses a high-end D / A converter that supports 384kHz / 32bit and DSD to deliver pure, high-quality sound.
MM / MC phono equalizer
The PMA-1600NE has a phono equalizer that supports both MM and MC pickups. The phono equalizer has a high gain. Because conductor loops on the board can negatively impact sound quality, the simplified circuit design is a significant improvement. In contrast to its predecessor, the PMA-1600NE switch between MM and MC is no longer a pushbutton but a relay switch. As a result, the printed conductors on the board can be shortened and signal loops can be downsized. Filigree analog signals are amplified with greater clarity.
System remote control and Clear View front display
The PMA-1600NE comes with a system remote control that can also control the DCD-1600NE and other Denon CD players. The low-noise FL display on the front panel shows the source and sample rate.
